“Let’s begin with the first body.” Dr. Grace pulled back the sheet covering Reginald Chilton’s face for our examination, turning his head to show the wound on the back. “He has a fractured skull and a crushed cervical vertebrae. Either would have been sufficient to kill him.”

“Injuries consistent with a fall,” Murdoch interjected.

“Yes, but that’s not all.”
