Introduction
“Let’s recap, George,” the Detective said, flipping the chalkboard in his office to a clean slate. “Two suspicious deaths, all in the legislature over the last week.”
“Sir Reginald Chilton,” George began, “and Dr. Ansel Fraser, both of whom fell from the third floor to the landing. And Mr. Briggs, the guard on duty, witnessed both deaths.”
Murdoch neatly printed out the names on the board, including Mr. Briggs. “Our witness,” he mused. “Not that he’s of much help.”
George made a sound of frustration. “Sir, surely you, a man who believes in god–“
“God has no place in our investigation, Constable,” Murdoch cut him off. “Stick to the facts.”
