Samuel Jenkins looked pleased to see us. “You’ve read my work, I see!” he stood to shake our hands vigorously before gesturing for us to take a seat. “I had planned to come see you when I heard the news about Chilton,” he explained. “Of course, most of it is in my articles, but I think I can still shed some light on the matter.”

“You were investigating his dealings, yes?”

“Shame to lose such a rich vein of material.” He shook his head, though he still looked pleased as punch.

“Did Chilton know you were investigating his affairs?” Murdoch asked.

Jenkins laughed. “Oh yes. In fact, he was suing me!”
